Battle of the Scheldt

Now and then, I find during digging in the ground around my house, shell casings.
The bullet stamp tells me that it was an American bullet from 1942 used by the Canadian army.
Traces of a heavy fight that took place in october 1944 during the battle of the Scheldt in the forests of Bergen op Zoom.

In honor and in memory of our liberators I painted this still life, Traces of War and Liberty
